Adobe Acrobat provides OCR (optical character recognition) so you can copy and paste text or save as a Microsoft Word document and search text in scanned documents. If you want the additional features of Adobe Acrobat, you will need to purchase it for the Mac as the included version is for Windows only.
On the Mac, you can use the Mac OS app Preview to view the scanned PDFs and do some minor editing, but you can’t use the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) features nor edit the scanned documents easier.
Another Mac PDF viewing option is PDFPen from Smile Software which makes page rearrangement, editing, multi-document assembly, and more very easy at a lower cost than Adobe Acrobat.
