Tim Cimbura

CEO and Software Engineer

Tim is an expert in creating custom business solutions that make businesses more efficient, productive, and profitable. He specializes in rapid application development with FileMaker (certified in versions 8-16) for macOS, Windows, iPad/iPhone and web app integration with WordPress. He knows Apple technology and Windows systems inside and out.

Tim was recognized as a real life “whiz kid” when he began working as a programmer of educational software at 16 years old. Soon he licensed complex computer code he wrote to other developers. Tim has been a technology leader in fortune 50 corporations like TargetAmerican Express, and Honeywell where he played key roles implementing their most advanced technologies. He has run his consulting business for over 30 years, acted as Chief Technology Officer for businesses, and led successful technology start up companies. Tim’s innovative ideas have been published widely.

Tim got his degree in electrical engineering at the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology with a minor the theater. His favorite foods are Pizza and Chipotle. Among his hobbies are magic, juggling, biking, hip hop group fitness, playing piano / trumpet / drums, and speaking French. Nick Ciske

CTO and Software Engineer

Nick has a degree in Multimedia Design and over 18 years of experience working in web development and digital media. In his career he’s built or rebuilt just about every kind of website, including many content management systems (before WordPress), several custom e-commerce systems, and hundreds of websites.

Widely regarded as an expert WordPress developer, Nick is sought after for his help on technical mailing lists, in person at local meetups, and has spoken at many web focused conferences in MN and nationally.

He remembers spacer gifs, table layouts, font-face, and when Flash was the new kid on the block. He specializes in custom Genesis websites and bespoke plugins that teach WordPress new tricks.

Dr. Brenda Cimbura


Brenda is responsible for LuminFire strategic operations, marketing, and communications. She will ensure that you have the best experience working with Luminfire. Brenda has her doctorate in administration and is an expert idea generator and communicator with projects that have appeared on television, web, and in print.

Brenda has taught graduate level courses and spoken on various leadership topics. Brenda is the active mom to two girls. In her free time, Brenda loves to experience great coffee, plan parties, find new restaurants (especially Mediterranean food), and swing dance.


Director of Client Services

Cherie is a passionate and driven leader with the experience that makes her an excellent project and relationship manager. She is a capable and creative problem solver with an infectious positive attitude. As a soccer team manager, wife, and mother of two daughters, Cherie enjoys attending her girl’s activities and spending time with family and friends.


Director of Business Development

Angel is passionate about striving to develop and maintain positive client relations and provide great customer service so we can help your business thrive.  She loves to connect with people and enjoys opportunities to learn new things and incorporate new ideas. An entrepreneur at heart, she has enjoyed running her own businesses where she honed her leadership skills. She has experience working with small and large organizations, building teams, and improving communications processes.

As a coach, wife, and mother to three active teenagers, Angel enjoys being involved in their activities – volleyball, soccer, cross country, basketball and baseball.  As a family, when they’re not at ballgames, they enjoy 4-wheeling together and other outdoor activities.

Matt is a highly skilled developer with over 13+ years of FileMaker and IT experience supporting Mac and Windows systems. Matt is a specialist in FileMaker Pro database development, graphic design, and HTML/CSS/PHP as well as proficient at Mac network administration, installation, and troubleshooting.

Shawn is a highly skilled developer with many years of FileMaker and IT experience supporting Mac and Windows systems. Shawn has extensive experience in the printing industry and worked for Apple, Inc. before joining LuminFire. He also has talents in photography, graphic design, and musical theatre.

Software Engineer

Jon has been developing FileMaker solutions and working in the Technology industry as an IT Director for more than 15 years, specializing in helping clients reach their goals through creative and efficient solutions. Jon is experienced in all things Macintosh including Mac OS X Server.

After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Mathematics Education, Jon worked for 6 years as a golf professional in Minnesota, California, and Arizona. Now much of his spare time is spent watching his two boys participate in a variety of activities including soccer, basketball and track. Jon enjoys golfing (when he has time), running, traveling, and coaching the Bible quiz team at church. Most of all he loves spending time with his wife and boys.

Software Engineer

Dan has been developing FileMaker solutions since FileMaker Pro version 2 and has over 20 years experience supporting Apple technologies. He served as an IT Director for a Macintosh-based business and as an Apple Store Genius.

Dan is passionate about using technology to enhance efficiency and collaboration in the business environment. In his spare time Dan is an avid bicycle tourist who likes to play bass guitar with his band.

Software Engineer, GIS Specialist

Michael is passionate about making things work. Most of the time those things are web and GIS related, but he has been known to take apart a vacuum or washing machine if the need arises. He loves making interactive web maps and other web applications, working with really big data sets, and optimizing complex database queries. Especially interesting to him is the light-weight Leaflet.js web mapping library. He has written several plugins for it and has spoken about it at GIS conferences multiple times.

Michael is good at explaining how software works if want to know, but understands that most people are happy to just know that it’s working correctly. And he’s OK with that. He has a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from BYU and a Masters in GIS from the University of Minnesota.

Marty has been fascinated with computers since he received a Commodore 64 as a child.

Marty prides himself as being a Jack of “Quite A Few” Trades. Before becoming a WordPress fanatic he worked for many years in the IT industry. He’s worked with most of the major operating systems out there, networking, and hardware/software support. Nowadays he loves taking ideas and concepts and making them a reality on the web.

In his spare time he loves spending time with his wife and triplet boys and going on adventures. In addition to that he’s quite passionate about vintage mopeds and motorcycles and enjoys wrenching on them for hours on end in his garage.


Software Engineer, GIS Specialist

Andy is a computer geek with an affinity for the natural world. He’s been developing FileMaker and web solutions for more than 15 years. He excels at working with spatial data, creating maps, navigating legacy systems, and making the complex simple. Andy has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a Master’s in Geographic Information Science from the University of Minnesota. He is proficient with front-end web development, Python, PHP, Applescript, all things Macintosh, and he really likes to push the limits of FileMaker Pro.

For many years, Andy has planned and guided trips everywhere from the Apostle Islands to East Africa with a local organization known as Wilderness Inquiry…if you’re interested in canoeing, kayaking or climbing Kilimanjaro just talk to him. In his spare time you’ll find him hanging with his wife and daughters, paddling, biking, or volunteering with local nonprofits.

Software Engineer

Joe started development in high school where he built classic games like ‘Snake’ on his TI 92 Plus graphing calculator. He attended college at Saint Leo University and getting his degree in Business Administration he realized his true passion was in web development.

Joe has been working with WordPress for many years and specializes in custom theme and plugin development with the Genesis framework. He is active within the WordPress community and has spoken Meetups and WordCamp Tampa. Joe is Google certified for AdWords and he keeps up with the SEO/SEM/Digital Marketing best practices.

Joe enjoys spending time with family and friends, and playing with his dog, “Buddy”.


Software Engineer

Brad has been using FileMaker since its beginning. He has extensive experience with using it for HIPAA compliant systems synced to Oracle PeopleSoft. He is an expert with Drupal web technologies and PHP.

When Brad is not geeking out, he is spending time with his dogs at his Fish Lake cabin and hiking the Duluth section of the Superior Hiking Trail (which he has hiked entirely). He aspires to begin tackling the full-on Superior Hiking Trail connecting Chester Creek to Grand Marais, for which is two dogs are named — Chester & Marais.

Julie has 25+ years of business operations, technical support, customer service, and finance experience. After seeing all of her children off to start their own lives, she pursued her dream to work in software and web development. Her experience is in WordPress and full-stack JavaScript development. Julie enjoys planning and helping the team keep projects on track. Julie is active in many local tech meetup groups including Girl Develop It, WordPress, JavaScript, Clojure, and React. She has a passion for helping women get involved in tech careers and volunteers at many local tech events.

In her free time Julie enjoys spending time with her family and friends, riding motorcycles, practicing yoga, and walking her dog.

Caroline is a marketing professional with an MBA from Brigham Young University. Her background is in entrepreneurial marketing, and more recently she has worked as a marketing contractor and as a technical writing consultant.

Allyson is a web engineer and WordPress enthusiast. She is passionate about learning new things and passing the knowledge on to others. In her free time she loves to read books, go hiking, and teach others how to code.

Catherine is a full-stack software developer. She enjoys working with many technologies such as JavaScript/Node.js, Angular, WordPress, and FileMaker. Catherine graduated from the College of Saint Benedict with a degree in Biology and English Literature. She had an interest in veterinary medical school but decided to follow a career in software development instead. When she’s not coding, she is camping along the north shore, running marathons, trying out craft breweries, reading everything from a field guide about the Birds of Minnesota to Anna Karenina, or spending time with her dog Maple.


Accounting Expert

Jeanne is an expert at accounting, bookkeeping, and tax services. She brings experience as a business owner, CPA, and certified QuickBooks Online consultant. In her spare time Jeanne enjoys being with her family and traveling.


CPA/Accounting Specialist

Courtney is a Certified Public Accountant with over 15 years of public accounting experience in a wide range of industries. She is an accomplished accounting professional and can provide services in all areas of the accounting function. She spends time developing close relationships with her clients, and can help customers improve overall financial processes through keen attention to customer needs and detail.

After graduating from the University of Minnesota Duluth with Bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance, she practiced public accounting in Seattle and Phoenix before settling in the Twin Cities. Courtney has extensive knowledge and practical application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), as well as considerable background in individual, business, and non-profit taxation. She is comfortable using a variety of accounting and tax softwares, including AccountEdgeQuickBooksTaxAct and ATX.

When she’s not crunching numbers, Courtney can often be found outdoors. A true Minnesotan at heart, she thinks a warm summer day spent with her family on their ski boat is as close to perfect as you can get. During cooler months, she loves to run, bike, cook and spend time with her husband, daughters, and (very spoiled) yellow lab, Scout.

Miki Lu

Training Specialist

Miki Lu has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education and has been in the field of training/education for more than eight years. She loves working with people to help them better understand tools that will better their lives. She enjoys cooking, reading, yoga, hiking, mushroom hunting, and spending time with her husband, daughter and dog.
