The Client
Recently, a healthcare logistics company that delivers time-sensitive products to clients through a proprietary air and ground network approached LuminFire for a solution. Their routes included multiple stops and full and partial load transfers, and they needed a custom app developed to track and report on each of the barcoded items, all which were also grouped into loads.
Our Brilliant Solution
After analyzing how their business worked, we determined the best solution would be a custom web application using components from our own BrilliantPortal which is built on the Laravel framework.
The app, which was built to be usable on iPad, iPhone, Android devices and laptops, enabled the scanning of barcoded items grouped in loads as they travel to their destinations. Each airplane cargo load included up to 200 barcodes that could now be scanned with a handheld bluetooth scanner, massively increasing the tracking accuracy of each item and load.
A daily report including geolocation and time stamps provided administrators all the information required to complete their work quickly and accurately.

Previously, the data and processes had been hand written or manually entered into a spreadsheet. These methods were time-consuming and error-prone. Automating their process allowed the 15 pilots and 2 administrative users to complete their jobs efficiently and successfully.
