To run this unique business, Howard uses a custom application built on Claris FileMaker. The app tracks all the events, participants, and other information required to make a successful excursion. The app also generates all the documentation and invoices required for each trip. Because it’s built on a low-code technology platform, it can be quickly customized at any time to adjust to Fishabout’s business needs.
Howard contacted LuminFire to help him improve his aging FileMaker solution. Preparing for the future, he wanted to expand to share it with additional employees and improve the user experience.
Howard lives deep in the Florida Keys. Our developer first connected with him from Minnesota, using a specialized, highly-secure technology that allowed our developer to remotely access and control Howard’s computer screen while talking through the process with Howard on the phone. Truly, with this kind of connection technology, they could work together from wherever either of them were in the world.
To modernize and improve the user experience of Fishabout’s solution, LuminFire rebuilt the solution using BrilliantHub Starter, then imported all the data from the old solution. Now as an app hosted in the cloud, anyone with an account can view, adjust and augment all the information needed to plan new trips and view the history of all the past. Additionally, their data is now fully backed up and takes advantage of FileMaker’s new updates as they are released.
Not only were we able to assist with Fishabout’s FileMaker solution, but as Apple Consultant Network members, LuminFire was able to help Howard ensure that his computer was up to date, operating properly and fully backed up. His technology is now protected from hardware failures and natural disasters such as the recent hurricane Helene. He’s glad to be prepared for emergencies in the future.
