Our team just got back from the FileMaker developer conference in Las Vegas. Fortunately, we narrowly missed the poolside fire at the Cosmopolitan hotel. Overall, the future of FileMaker is bright with many new features in coming releases and a lot of energy in the developer community.

FileMakerProGurus.com invited myself (Tim Cimbura) and Richard Carlton for an interview regarding the state of FileMaker. Here are some of the things we discussed:

  • Integrating FileMaker with WordPress – The latest tools and techniques for taking advantage of the strengths of both platforms.
  • SalesForce vs FileMaker – Transferring files to FileMaker, the real cost per seat and the customization factor that is driving people to FileMaker
  • FileMaker in the cloud – New possibilities and legal issues that affect cloud installations
  • The recent internal FileMaker re-organization – Its effects on employe morale and the future of FileMaker.
