My Square credit card reader finally arrived in the mail yesterday! With this little device that attaches to your iPhone and the Square app, you can take credit card payments via your iPhone or iPad. The software is free and so is the reader.
Here’s how it works: You open the iPhone Square app, enter an amount with an optional note, swipe the credit card, and have your client sign their name on the iPhone display with their finger. After the charge goes throuhg, you can e-mail them a receipt. The money is transferred into your checking account in a few days. There is no monthly fee and the fee for using the service is lower than with PayPal’s Virtual Terminal because you actually have the card in hand at the time of the transaction.
