The other day I found myself in a different city after dropping my daughters off for a birthday party. I had some ergreat clips logorands to run including getting a hair cut…and technology made it a seamless and enjoyable customer experience.

Here’s how it went… I picked up my iPhone and said to Siri “Great Clips”. Instantly a map appeared similar to the one below.

great clips check in 2

I saw a 10 minute wait for a Great Clips about 8 minutes from where I was. I touched “Check In” for a location near by destination and then followed Siri’s turn by turn directions on how to get to there. Upon arrival, I saw my name “Tim” on the monitor as the next person in line…ahead of people already there and waiting. I sat down within 30 seconds and the stylist greeted me asked if I’d like my hair cut the “same as usual” even though I never met her. The entire experience as positive.

The iPhone along with well implemented application technology directly accounted for saving me about 45 minutes of time and making the experience as a customer a breeze.

Do you think Great Clips gets more business because of this investment in technology?…you bet. With more than 60% of web views coming from mobile devices AND Google’s recent SEO penalties for bad mobile optimization, it’s more important than ever to be sure your web site is ready for mobile.

A custom web site or application that directly improves the customer and employee experience for your business is essential. Gaining new business and retaining existing clients (and employees) should make the investment in technology a no-brainer when you’re doing it right.
